Physician-Centric
----> Patient-Centric
In order to optimize patient-centric
care delivery and reach the highest level of patient-centric
care, Health information systems must initially be Physician-centric.
Healthcare information systems must cater to the needs,
functions and workflow of Physicians, so that Physicians
are able to retrieve the necessary information, at the
right time and in the right place and in turn provide
patient-centric care.
DataGlider realizes that in order to deliver the highest
level of care and safety in any healthcare organization,
information must be delivered according to Physicians'
needs and tasks and only then can it be transferred
and classified in a patient-centric manner.
DataGlider's portal technology is a Physician-centric
portal, which focuses on each Physician's specific needs,
and areas of expertise. Once a Physician logs into the
DataGlider system, they can view all of the real-time
and up to date information that is relevant specifically
to their task, their specialty and their area of care.
A Physician who enters the portal receives a list of
his patients, their status, and location, as well as
information regarding specific diagnoses, medications,
diseases or illnesses, and recent studies or findings
relevant to the Physician's tasks.
Under the Physician-centric portal umbrella, is the
patient-centric context aware information, through which
Physicians can search and retrieve information regarding
their different patients. Only after Physicians receive
the Physician-centric picture, can they move into a
patient-centric environment.
DataGlider's portal technology realizes the Physician's
role in care delivery and the importance of creating
a Physician-centric system in order to reach the highest
level of patient care.

Integrates Existing Systems - Leverages existing investments:
DataGlider's Portal solution uses the organization's existing IT infrastructure and information systems rather than replacing existing systems. DataGlider's portal solution is non-intrusive and can work in parallel with existing systems, thereby leveraging and breathing new life into existing systems and applications. This allows Healthcare Organizations to retain existing IT investments, training, and institutional knowledge and to capitalize on investments already made.
|
Extendibility:
DataGlider's Healthcare Portal technology is extendable and can be adapted to changing Hospital requirements. New technologies and Healthcare developments can be added onto the portal technology in order to extend the functions and the abilities available through the portal interface.
Instead of continuing to add new systems and terminals every time there is a new technology that supports healthcare delivery, DataGlider's portal enables the Healthcare Organization to add new technologies to the portal itself and thus extend Organizational capabilities while maintaining one single portal technology.
With DataGlider's powerful web integration infrastructure that can link with other systems (both external and internal), the organization is not locked into a single 'silo' approach.
|
Customization:
DataGlider's Healthcare portals can be quickly adapted to each organization's unique needs.
DataGlider's portal technology can be customized according to each Organization's specific requirements and specialties. The portal can be modified and the parameters of the system can be changed in order to meet user requirements and goals.
|
Personalization:
Beyond customization, the portal technology can be personalized in order to respond to each and every user's specific needs within the portal interface and based on the different departments and users in an Organization.
Personalization of the portal is the process of matching categorized content with different end users, providing functionality, and enabling information to be targeted to specific users based on business rules and user profile information. This creates the ability to tailor information needs, to control information overload, and to ensure that the appropriate system users will see the information that is necessary for them to see.
The DataGlider portal enables the user to determine which applications and data sources are of interest form those that are made available by the system - according to their role within a functional group.
|
Flexible and configurable:
The DataGlider portal is highly flexible and configurable, and can be adapted to specific Organizational needs and Hospital requirements. DataGlider can add additional applications to the healthcare portal as necessary, and phase in deployment as required.
Health care business IT needs will continue to grow; the DataGlider portal environment is scaleable and grows with your organization.
With DataGilder, your Organization
will never hit a wall!
|
Single Sign-On:
DataGlider's portal technology eliminates multiple Sign-On's by providing one single, secure sign-on for all users to view separate applications. The Single Sign-On mechanism verifies a user across multiple applications through a single authentication challenge, rather than having controlling multiple sign-on points to separate systems. DataGlider's central Sign-On automatically identifies the current user to all applications, making them accessible from one central point.
DataGlider uses EMPI (Enterprise-Wide Master Person Index)to identify patients across systems.
|
Context aware:
The goal of a context-aware portal is to acquire and utilize information about the context of an element to provide services that are appropriate to the particular users, place, time and events.
DataGlider's context-aware portal redefines the basic notions of interface and interaction. It is able to understand the user's context - in particular, the task the user is trying to accomplish - and the context of the information the application is processing and provide the relevant and up-to-date information that can assist in decision-making and workflow.
This enables the portal to provide users with the answers they are seeking rather than with a collection of documents that may contain the answers somewhere.
The context-aware portal enables clinical staff to view information that is relevant to their specific task, specific patient, specific disease or specific medication, thereby improving decision support, and patient safety.
The context server enables users who are addressing
a specific task or matter to recognize other system
users who are addressing the same matter in real-time
(view other Physicians that are looking at the same
disease, same medication, same subject matter).
|
Interoperability:
DataGlider's portal is interoperable and supports multiple data platforms. This enables web-based
access with a single interface to multiple information systems that otherwise cannot communicate with each other. The web-based interface provides a better standard by which providers can share information and communicate
|
Content management:
DataGlider's portal technology has the ability to perform the process of:
 |
Developing content |
 |
Updating content |
 |
Publishing new content |
Publishing content is the ability of the user to forward documents or objects (such as reports, queries, alerts) to one or more users.
Subscribing content is the ability of the user to subscribe to channels or groups and be automatically notified when new information has been published to the channel or group.
|
Knowledge Management:
Knowledge management capitalizes on Organizational information assets by making the knowledge of Clinicians, Managers and other Healthcare professionals more readily accessible throughout the Organization. Knowledge management plays a key role in many corporate activities in Healthcare.
Healthcare service organizations are knowledge-based organizations; information is constantly being enhanced and improved. Collaboration, information sharing and communication among employees is mission-critical for Healthcare Organizations.
DataGlider's portal offers the highest level of Knowledge Management for your Healthcare Organization by bringing disparate documents and databases together with one accessible interface.
|
Comprehensive Audit Trail:
The DataGlider solution provides comprehensive audit trail capabilities that can track and document all the views and data that were presented to the user including a sign-off capability, where the user confirms new results that were presented to him.
|
Web-centric:
DataGlider's Web based portal technology essentially creates a new layer of healthcare delivery, which generates a more efficient and effective healthcare organization. The virtual healthcare organization unifies the organization with patients, providers, partners, and stakeholders into one virtual entity, which can now function on a new level.
The Web-centric portal enables clinical staff to view critical patient information and other essential data at any place and any time. Clinical staff can now receive real-time information at home or on the go, and can increase their efficiency in care delivery.
|
Supports Mobile Devices:
Our proposed solution supports hand held and PDA style devices. This is a requirement from our current customers. In general, all the portal functionality can be supported including access to the full range of data. The portal interface is modified in order to cater to the screen size of the specific mobile device.
|
The Interactive-Front-End:
The Interactive-Front-End provides richness of user interface and navigation required by providers, such as dynamic column sorting, color coding of fields and data elements, clinical result search capabilities, electronic signature, drop down menus, drill downs capabilities, printing, point and click, abnormal range highlights, critical special fields selection, mouse over's, grid lines enabling, data filtering and dynamic date range.
|
Physician Signature:
Users can "sign" (authorize that they have viewed specific information) through the portal technology. The Physician signature feeds the users with the critical information that is relevant to them, which they must see. Information that requires user signature remains in the users' filed of view until it is signed by the specific user.
|
Security:
DataGlider provides clinicians with distributed, Web-based applications that employ industry standard security. The security features of the Point of View portal enforce and support the organizational security policies and procedures. Access to patient information can be controlled at multiple stages of the Point of View portal workflow.
The Point of View portal's comprehensive security features include access authentication, configurable role-based access, secure storage of passwords and user activity logouts. The security includes authorizations that can be applied for individual users or for groups of users. The system requires User ID and Password (authentication) for access to the portal. This information is registered in the context server and provides further verification to access to the different modules of the system.
The system supports proximity switches that shut down the application when the authorized user is away from the system. Once a user is logged on, Point of View will only grant access to the applications for which they have clearance, and will only allow tasks to be carried out by users with the correct authorization, and can deny access to particular documents or specific data within a clinical system.
Each Point of View user has a unique user name. Individual Point of View users can be assigned to user groups, which determine their level of access to different information systems. For example, clinicians, nurses and executives would each have specific levels of access to patient information. The membership, user privileges and restrictions of these access groups can be fully configured to suit the Healthcare Organization.
After a pre-defined period of inactivity within the Point of View portal, a time-out mechanism (defined by the system administrator) automatically denies further actions to be made within the portal. Before any user activities can resume, the user must log back into the Point of View portal.
The system has a full audit-trail which tracks any information viewed by a specific user (including username, time of access and information accessed). The audit-trail can be viewed by the system administrator to verify secure and authorized access to information.
